Royal Endorsement for Youth Action!
Youth Action, is proud to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Badiya El Hassan of Jordan has agreed to become its Patron. As well as many royal duties the Princess finds time to work with projects to further interfaith and cross cultural understanding, as well as those that support young people.
Princess Badiya has done great work to raise awareness of young people and issues affecting them at an international level. In the UK, her commitments include her role as an Ambassador for The Prince's Trust and Chairman of Mosaic – both youth engagement charities. Hence it is an immense pleasure for Youth Action that Princess Badiya has decided to become a Patron of Youth Action.
“Youth Action is a very reputable organisation; it’s work supporting young people and developing their leadership skills is well done and extremely worthwhile. I am delighted that Youth Action have invited me to become one of their Patrons, and I am looking forward to learning more about them and to meeting many of the young people they work with across Lancashire” said Princess Badiya.

Our new Patron recognises the value of effective youth work in providing adventure and challenge and life changing experiences for young people. Youth Action is an independent community organisation working with young people aged 8 to 24 years old across Blackburn with Darwen and Lancashire. Youth Action was established in 2003, and now has over 5,000 youth members – and this list is growing all the time!

Youth Action is awarded the Diana Princess of Wales - Certificate of Excellence!
An Advocacy programme, aiming to help young people learn valuable leadership skills, promoting active citizenship and enhancing youth empowerment has been awarded the Diana Princess of Wales Certificate of Excellence.
The Youth Advocacy programme is an annual programme; the programme aims to enhance young people’s learning and experiences.
The programme allows young people to examine a range of community issues and themes and look to contribute towards positives solutions to community issues.
The young people are given the chance to take part in national conferences as well trips and residentials. Some of the projects we have been involved in include community cohesion training, healthy living, supporting young carers, career building and much more.
The Youth Advocacy programme, organised and delivered by Youth Action, is aimed at people aged 16-25, the project aimed to engage young people in an informal setting.
Charlotte, a Youth Advocacy Group member, said “The project has been a huge success and has given us loads of skills. It has been the very positive for me and we have learnt so much and had great fun at the same time”.
Amar Abass, Chief Executive of Youth Action said “We strive to offer an excellent service to young people and we regularly receive feedback from young people and their families about the excellent work we do. Receiving the Diana Certificate of Excellence is fantastic news as it endorses that we are doing some outstanding work with young people.”
Youth Action provides a range of services to children and young people from youth clubs, volunteering, mentoring, and counselling to community fundraising, campaigning on youth rights and providing a range of support services to young parents too.

Local Business backs Youth Action!
A Blackburn businessman, Darren Turner, has expressed his support for Youth Action by launching a new initiative that will benefit both the environment and help to provide further youth activities.
Darren is the owner of the Cartridge World store in Blackburn. He's just launched 'Refill and help Youth Action' this scheme encourages customers to refill their ink cartridges and hence prevent old cartridges going to landfill. As well as assisting the environment the scheme will also donate to Youth Action to enhance various youth projects.
Commenting on his support for Youth Action, Darren said, “As a father of three, myself, I understand the importance of offering our young people, who may not have had the same opportunities as others, the chance to learn and improve themselves, so I am very keen to support Youth Action make a difference to the lives of young people.”
Paul Flintoff, Youth Action Chairperson said: “Youth Action are delighted to be partnered with a local business and welcome the support of Cartridge World. Funds raised will assist with making man important projects that we undertake with our members possible”.

- The Philip Lawrence Award - Outstanding Achievement
Received this prestegious national award in recognition of our diverse range of community cohesion and inter-faith projects at Youth Action. Young people attended a recognition event with Sir Trevor McDonald OBE along with the Home Secretary, The Rt. Hon Jacqui Smith MP and Frances Lawrence. to receive the award.
- Queen's Gold Award - Unsung Heroes
Received in recognition of commitment towards volunteering at Youth Action. Young volunteers attended Buckingham Palace to receive award.
- Payroll Giving Gold Award
Received in recognition of commitment towards raising funds through payroll giving by employees to charities. This award was received as we are one of the most innovative charities with regards to payroll giving.
- Investors In People Award
Received in recognition of commitment towards investing in our staff and volunteers to a "very high standard" (IIP Report).
- National Mentoring & Befriending Quality Mark
Received in recognition of the Youth Action Mentoring Project. Over two years over 450 young people have been through this programme going onto training, education, employment, enterprise or volunteering opportunities. Several members of our team have achieved the Advice & Guidance NVQ level 3 and one at level 4.
- Make Space Quality Mark
Awarded by the national quality committee recognising that Youth Action is committed and can demonstrate to providing a high quality and safe environment for children and young people to evolve in.
