Children's Summer Project

This project had four aims and achieved:

Bullying - to produce a Bullying booklet written by children for other children in the Borough about how to tackle bullying and what support exists for children going through bullying.  Workshops were undertaken to raise the profile and get children to contribute to the booklet. Booklet out soon!

Healthy Living/ Eating - a series of workshops both informative and practical about the various aspects of healthy eating choices available to children and actually doing a series of healthy eating taster practical workshops!

Road Safety - innovative and creative ways in which to get children to think about Road Safety in their day to day life.  Through a series of posters and informative quizzes this workshop has produced a tremendous amount of awareness amongst the children!

Children's Charter - the Children wanted to raise the awareness of issues that are affecting them on a day to day basis in the Borough, therefore the children contributed to a Children's Charter - which will be released shortly!

Heritage project

The heritage project looks at the third generation of Britons whose parents emigrated from the sub continent, from countries such as Pakistan, India and Bangladesh etc.  This project looks at the issues that these young Britons are now facing.  Do these young Britons see themselves as British, or Pakistani because of their parent's heritage or do they see themselves as between.

This project looks at the culture clash and enables the participants to explore their own heritage and give them a chance to express the issues they face on their own heritage.  This project gives them a chance to see what they are or maybe who they are.

This project is a major project and is a on going everyday so if you want to be part of this project don't hesitate get in touch using the web form.

Mutual Respect

The home front recall project is a huge project that is underway at this moment in time.  It is a project that is going to be launched on November 11th.  The aim of the project, the project gives young people of the Borough the opportunity to enter into dialogue with the veterans about the war and also gives them an insight of what actually happened, from a first hand source.

The project also gives the opportunity for veterans to have recognition for the cause that they fought for and this surely will build bridges between the young people and the veterans, this project can also lead to more appreciation from young people towards society in general who were involved in the War.

This project is currently ongoing and we are hoping to gather possession which date back to the Second World War, so if you have any possession or know anyone one who does we would be grateful if we could use it for the project.

Citizenship and Identity

A huge project that addressed issue that are of great concern to young people today.

Youth Action challenged and engaged young people on the imperative Citizenship project! A monumental project in the Blackburn and Darwen community which got young people from a range of communities involved it challenged their views and opinions on the whole citizenship debate and helped challenge stereotypes that exist in our community!

What is identity was the question we had for the young people at Youth Action.  This was a huge project that got young people from different communities together the majority of the young people that contributed were young people from a South Asian background  these young people strongly expressed their views in a constructive format to show the rest of the community what they perceive themselves as. The main aim of this project was to get young people into dialogue with other young people from different communities!

Young Muslims in Britain

A unique opportunity to work with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and speak on behalf of the thousands of young Muslims in Britain.  This was a project that got young people from Youth Action into dialogue with people from all over the world via the media.  A project that surely caught the eye of many people as it looked at how it's like to be a young person in Britain from a first hand source!
